Just a suggestion. When flying a straight course, the plane icon can get up to the top of the screen before an auto-redraw. Normally of little consequence but in congested airpsace a better appreciation of whats ahead wd be good.

I realise I can move the map of course  .. but again in congested airpsace the less other stuff you have deal with the better.

As I say, not crucial just a thought.

We'll probably revisit this feature later this year in light of the map redraw speed improvements.

Having just purchased the new SkyDemon MD, I have to say this is an issue I almost immediately came up against. Allowing the plane to reach the very edge of the screen before redrawing is really quite irritating. I appreciate that the redraw speed of the entire map is quite slow, but it is important as a pilot to know what is ahead, whereas what is behind is largely irrelevant. Would it be possible to trigger the auto-redraw when the plane leaves the "centre ninth" of the screen? Or just to "slide" the screen down and then to a minimal redraw to fill in the strip at the top?



Other than that, I am very happy with the new SkyDemon unit, and I'm pleased to report that the screen is just about bright enough to cope with a bubble-canopy Slingsby Firefly even on a bright sunny day. Wearing sunglasses is a little tricky though, sadly.

I'm pleased to report that we've made this enhancement ready for the forthcoming 2.2.1 software update. It was only an issue in track-up mode, it seems.
